About:
Trained at the Ecole Nationale des Arts de Dakar from which he graduated in 2013, Serigne Ibrahima Dieye develops a practice at the crossroads of drawing, painting and collage.
Often working on large formats, frequently on square canvases that are not without recalling models of contemporary images, the artist mixes symbols, forms and materials. Serigne Ibrahima Dieye thus composes the strange scenes of a contemporary theatre of which hybrid animals and mysterious figures are the protagonists. This is the beginning of the story of urban fables, both fantasy and drama, which borrow their subject matter from various cultures and draw their depth from the nebulae of history and current events.

In his works, Serigne Ibrahima Dieye unveils a poetic look at contemporary society and the ills that trouble it, without concessions and not without irony.
