Nestor Da (1982, Ivory Coast) is a self-taught photographer who lives and works in Burkina Faso.
Nestor Da found his inspiration in the materiality of a photograph and infinite possibilities to transform an image. He constructs his work not only from his own photographs as a starting point, but also with found materials. He juxtaposes, confronts, paints and overlaps them into a single image in order to deconstruct the original. Photographs are the raw material of Nestor Da’s artworks who assembles and collects fragments to unveil a new life for the images and build a singular universe on photographic paper.

His works reflect a reality and put on the world an African and contemporary look.
The handy and transformable character of the picture is his source of inspiration. It allows him to build his work with his photos and those drawn here and there, juxtaposed face, and joined by overlapping paint to make a single image. This is how he works and built a new world of photography. Nestor is inspired by his entourage, by the daily life of people in the places where Nestor goes and where Nestor lives. His intuition and curiosity led him to have unusual shots, always powerful in detail.
