Bouba Dola was born in 1985 in Kinshasa, Congo. He lives and works in Amsterdam.
He studied at HKU in Utrecht and is actually working as an artist in the Netherlands. His main artwork is digital art, such as drawings, music and videos. Currently, Bouba is working on his first cinematic work.
His works are often commissions. He works for artists, musicians, museums etc. Besides this commissioned work, he makes autonomous work. His photos are very remarkable.
They are still images of ordinary things. Details you tend to pass by without noticing. He seduces the viewer to look in another way. Because the location of his ‘subject’ is unclear, he adds mystery to his photos. Curiosity is aroused. Although people are missing, their possible presence is often felt.
Some photos remind me of American photographers like Siskind and Evans.
