Raphaël Christian Etongo was born in 1972 in Yaoundé , Cameroon , and was raised in the realm of the theatre.

Christian Etongo is interested in the expressions of the body: first in the dance of the late 1980s and then in other forms of expression which he has explored through traveling and by encounters with art personalities in Cameroon and abroad.He participed in “Spines” festival in Johannesburg,South Africa and in the first live/art biennial AFIRIPERFORMA in Harare,Zimbabwe.in the GIPCA Live Art Festival in Cape Town (South Africa 2014)

Since 1997, Christian Etongo has focused primarily on performance art. To date he has created about twenty performances and participated in several group and solo exhibitions (South Africa,Cameroon,Burkina Faso,Cote D’ivoire,Niger,Nigeria,Germany,Poland,Zimbabwe)
Being a nonconformist artist, the work of Christian Etongo is a journey between the ephemeral and the eternal, the finite and the infinite. The artist dissects the memory of mobility and its influence on societies.
