“I completed my matric year at Fairmont High school in the year 2002 and went on to Cape Peninsula University of Technology (then known as Peninsula Technikon) where I enrolled in the Graphic Design Diploma course. In 2005 I went on to AMAC (Arts and Media Access Centre) to do a Visual Arts and Design certificate course and in 2006 I participated in a group show at The Castle of Goodhope called In My Backyard. 2007 I enrolled in a Bachelor of the Fine Arts degree at Rhodes University. In 2009 I formed a collective called 3rdProduct and we held an exhibition at the National Arts Festival in Grahamstown titled Deciduous Kama Sutra.”

Jarrett Erasmus was a resident artist at Greatmore Artists’ Studios. He graduated in Fine Art at Rhodes University (Grahamstown) in 2011 and was awarded the David Koloane Award (2012) from the Bag Factory Artist Studios. In 2013 he was invited to a residency at the Nafasi Art Space in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. He has facilitated various creative development workshops with members from disadvantaged communities around Cape Town. He is a member of the Burning Museum Collective.

The Lobola Cattle Turned On Him, 2012-2013.

Essentially his work has social leanings and he hardly delves into topics that look inward. He works mainly on a two-dimensional plane but has of late moved towards performance, video and site-specific work.
