Kevin Evans, a young talent from Brooklyn, New York.
Statement:
I am a Brooklyn based Interdisciplinary Artist. My work focuses on themes involving gentrification, urbanism, with tints of my own childhood. I like to convey my thoughts using found industrial objects, found fabrics, and carpets as well as concrete or plaster.
When creating I like to work intuitively and very loose because I have so much understanding and control over the materials I am manipulating and my intentions are earnest so I like to go in and get my hands dirty.
My work can exist in either in a installation or performance, it all depends on how big the statement needs to be. I have been creating collage based mixed media drawings.
I am a graduate of the Cooper Union having received a BFA in Fine Arts in 2013 and I spent a year in Amsterdam studying at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie. I recently got into the Bruce High Quality Residency for Emerging Artist. Here is a link to my blog which tracks 3 years of work when I was a student, Kevinevans24@blogspot.com.
