About:
Tété Camille Azankpo was born in Lomé, in 1984. He began to train as a welder before becoming a visual artist. He first showed his work in 1986, a year after having created his own studio.
Ma Laterne.
This self-taught artist, skilled at piecing together material and collage, is an advocate for the respect of the environment and has chosen to work primarily with recycled materials that he breaks down and reassembles. Using wood, paper, advertisements and glazed pans, which he cuts into pieces and then welds, he creates two and three-dimensional works, some of which are figurative portraits or abstract.

He has regularly shown his work across Europe and Africa, in numerous cultural institutions such as the French Cultural Center of Lomé, in 2006, and the Institut français of Cotonou, Benin, in 2010. Additionally, other works have been acquired by museums such as the Leopold Hoesch Museum of Düren, Germany, in 2007, the National Museum of Mali, Bamako, in 2010, and the Völker Museum in Vienna, Austria, in 2011. His work has been shown in the Cotonou and Dakar Biennials, in 2012 and 2014 respectively. The Institut français of Lomé also acquired his portraits, BLACK VIP, of African celebrities, in June 2015.

He lives in Lomé and in 2014, with the artist Sokay Edort, founded a creative residence and exhibition space in the city.
