As an artist, I explore ideas about water in my installations. I search for the meaning of this medium, and use its language in articulating my ideas on the functions and dysfunctions of human connections to one another and the surrounding Earth. As an African artist in a global society, I am interested in exploring water in ways that examine global, human, and environmental issues. The more I work with water, the more I discover new ideas and processes addressing these critical issues. Throughout this process, I study the historical and contemporary dimensions of water (cultural, social, political and economic), and their implications on society and the physical environment.

The materials and ideas I work with are from the environment and about the environment. They are from the culture/society and about the culture/society. They come from the people and are about the people.
