Born in 1983, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopian artist Yacob Bizuneh is currently an artist and instructor at the All School of Fine Arts and Design.
He also has a diploma in drafting technology, with experience in architectural design and computer-aided drawing.
He explores social, economic and political aspects of society through his work.
Currently, he is working on a project inspired by Bermel Tera (barrel place), the biggest market place in Africa, in Addis Ababa.
Yacob was raised in this area filled with a variety of colour, sound and bustling activity, where barrels are transformed into other utensils.
Yacob started observing, sketching and talking to the people who work here, later transforming all this into his artworks, using the shapes and colours of the barrels within each piece.
Yacob is also intrigued by the addiction to technology, which he observed while staying in Seoul, South Korea, and which has enormously influenced some of his latest artworks.
